“Park” a call to a specific number, retrieve it anywhere.
“Call Park” is a feature available in a PBX(Private Branch Exchange), which allows a person to put an active call on hold and then retrieve the same call from another telephone anywhere in the same PBX system.
Anyone can retrieve the parked call if he or she knows the park number.
Example of how Call Park feature is used:
For example, you receive a client’s call but do not know who is best suited to answer. You can activate “Call Park”, then pass the park number to a group of people so anyone in the group can answer.
Normally, this is activated by pressing some special “Park” button on the telephone during a call, then a special numbers will be announced. After a call is parked, it can be retrieved by dialing parked number from any other telephone extension in the same PBX.
*The procedure may vary by phones.
Call Park vs Hold: Call Park enables anyone on another phone to retrieve the held call rather than hold and retrieve on the same phone.
Call Park vs Transfer: Rather than transferring the call to a specific individual, Call Park enables any team member to take the call. Note: Most companies use transfer rather than park.
